GREEN CITIES & NEIGHBORHOODS

Global Green USA works in partnership with public agencies, communities, design innovators, and other nonprofits to create innovative and replicable policies, programs and procedures that make sustainability the standard during the planning, design, construction and operation of a built environment.

By working closely with agency staff and community stakeholders, we created a number of innovative green building programs, sustainability plans, green urban design proposals and climate action strategies.

For the cities of Los Angeles, Long Beach, Mountain View, Cupertino, Malibu, Pasadena and West Hollywood; climate action plans for Santa Ana and Santa Monica; the Local Government Green Building Program Guide; and facilitating the West Hollywood Environmental Task Force and the City of Los Angeles existing building energy and water bench-marking ordinance; and LEED for Neighborhood Development certified projects in California, Arizona and New Orleans.

 

LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND)

Assisting affordable housing developers and city planning staff to advance their environmental goals and create models of sustainable neighborhoods. Among the projects certified by Global Green in collaboration with its planning and development partners are The Holy Cross Project, Cornfields Arroyo Seco Specific Plan, Miraflores, Jordan Downs Revitalization Plan, Sunnydale, Rebuild Potrero, Lafitte, and Century Villages at Cabrillo. 

Sustainable Neighborhood Assessments
Greening communities across the country by providing free Sustainable Neighborhood Assessments using LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND).

Greening Affordable Housing
Advising on green building and providing clean and affordable power to building developments, including certification of over 3,000 apartments to LEED for Homes and a commitment to the White House 1MW of solar on affordable housing by 2017. 

Clean Equitable Mobility
Bringing an equitable bike sharing program to Los Angeles County that produces an environmental value, provides equitable access, and promotes a healthy and livable community.

Resource Recovery
Transforming waste into assets by conducting pilots and bringing successful models to scale.

Rebuilding Green and Resilient

Creating neighborhood resilience hubs by installing grid-tied back-up solar systems in New York and New Jersey communities hit hardest by Hurricane Sandy and providing sustainable neighborhood rebuilding guidance.


Helping New Orleans rebuild following Hurricane Katrina with a model sustainable village in the Lower Ninth Ward.

Water Wise NOLA
